Mary Moran was appointed in late July 2018 to lead Calgary’s effort to finalize a bid for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.  Ms. Moran was an inspired choice for this position, given her passion for Calgary and her depth of knowledge about the city, her blend of business and marketing skills, her specialized economic development  expertise and her own personal lifelong relationship with high-performance sport and its benefits.  As President and CEO of Calgary Economic Development since 2015 and their VP of Marketing for several years before that, Mary knows what makes a great city. She has competed against cities around the world to attract top talent and leading companies to Calgary. During Mary’s tenure, Calgary has risen to a fourth place ranking in a recent CNN ranking of the world’s most livable cities.
Mary also brings extensive leadership experience in the development of strategy, marketing and stakeholder relations with leading companies including TELUS, Delta Hotels, Canadian Airlines and WARDAIR. Mary holds an MBA from Royal Roads University and she is active in the Calgary community.  She is a director on several non-profit boards in the arts, sport, social services and business sectors. She is also a past president of Ronald McDonald House Southern Alberta.
With a deep personal love of sport and physical activity, Mary remains an active competitive figure skater as [the oldest] member of the [name] synchronized skating team. She is also an avid skier and dedicated runner.
