The Alex CEO, Joy Bowen-Eyre Speaks to the Millennium Club - Established in 1973 The Alex has provided comprehensive care to vulnerable Calgarians. With clinical and social components included in almost all of the programs offered by The Alex, the dedicated team serves a community with complex health needs, often the result of issues such as poverty, trauma, homelessness, or addiction.
Millennium Member, Charlene Bearden & Leonora Pagaling give a report on the recent Team Millennium visit to the Philippines on behalf of Bread Beyond Borders.
The Team consisted of Charlene and Leonora as well as Dorothy Kincaid and Wilner Pagaling. The team report was comprehensive and very informative and detailed
that there is a great need for Rotary support and working with local Rotarians in the Philippines.
Cindy Ngo of the Calgary Health Trust spoke to the Millennium members at the clubs regular Wednesday meeting at the Winston Golf and CC. The Calgary Health Trust has set a goal to raise $60 Million in the next 1-2 years in order to enhance and upgrade the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Foothills and South Campus Hospitals and is looking for assistance from Rotary. Funds will be matched if donated by Dec 31 2019 and will assist with upgraded premises and equipment and add need beds to the units. 1 in 8 newborns in Southern Alberta require the special care provided by at the NICU.
AG John Fortunka, presents Dale Shurvell (Rotary Club of Calgary Millennium Foundation Chair) with a banner recognizing the club for achieving the goal of "$100 Every year, Every member" donation to the Rotary Foundation.
Rotary is built on connections and local clubs provide ways to connect to our communities, to network professionally and to build strong and lasting relationships. Every year, Rotary International identifies 16 key performance goals that support clubs in strengthening Rotary as a whole. Goals include increasing club membership, developing sustainable service projects, giving to The Rotary Foundation, and building awareness of Rotary in our community. For the past two years our club has achieved these goals and we are pleased to be officially presented with the 2017-18 International President’s Citation for achieving these goals from our District Governor during her annual club visit.
