Our Club Stories
September 25th was a busy meeting with lots of guests! Club member, Charlene, introduced our District's Assistant Governor, John Fortunka, who presented us with the new Rotary Banner for 2019 - 2020.

Our guest speakers were Jose Guillen and Tim McGowan, from Inn from the Cold. We enjoyed learning about this great organization and hearing about the ways in which we as a club can volunteer our time to assist in their service to the community.

One of our favourite things is to give money to local organizations doing great work in our community! This week, during our last formal meeting of the Rotary year, we had the pleasure of presenting cheques to; Society for Treatment of Autism, YouQuest and The Centre for Newcomers!

On June 12th we had a great time volunteering at The Alex Community Food Centre! We had the pleasure of preparing food, serving meals to patrons, clearing plates and cleaning dishes. We were also able to partake in the meal we helped prepare-delicious! We all agreed that we'd enjoy volunteering again and would like to try serving a Monday night dinner.

GROUP COOKS AT ATCO BLUE FLAME KITCHEN:  December 13, 2018 @ 4:00pm
Made by Momma has a wonderful arrangement with the chefs at ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen, whereby they offer an afternoon or evening of cooking to stock the freezers at Made by Momma with healthy meals prepared by OUR group! This state of the art kitchen accommodates groups of between 12-24 people for a hands-on cooking experience. The event is a lot of fun, and includes the following:
1.       *A short welcoming reception attended by one of our board members who can say a few words about the work Made by Momma does in the community
2.       *A chef demonstration followed by hands on cooking experience.
3.       *A recipe booklet of the dishes prepared for the volunteers to take home.
4.       *A meal with wine/beer for the volunteers to enjoy after cooking,  prepared by the ATCO Blue Flame chefs.

What is the cost of a Group Cook?

There is a charge per person for this volunteering opportunity. The cost is $68.25 per person which covers the cost of using the ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen, purchasing the ingredients & food contains and finally, the cots of the meal/drinks for the participants.

RSVP:  rhonda@francislaw.ca Limit of 24 people, first come basis.

Great presentation today by Calgary Arts Development President & CEO, Patti Pon on the 2026 Calgary Olympic Bid.
We'd like to extend a warm welcome to our new exchange student.  Enya arrived from Germany at the end of August and has now been placed with her first host family.  Enya loves the outdoors and horseback riding.  We're looking forward to getting to know her better.
2017/2018 was a great year for Rotary Millenium, due, in large part to Tamara's great leadership. Under Tamara, our group focus changed to community service and with that change we welcomed many new members to our club. Tamara brought much needed structure and process to how we run our club administration. She made these changes while still maintaining fun and dynamic meetings every week (although we all mourn the loss of desert!) The membership survey showed that we all really enjoy going to our meetings and that we actually seem to like each other's company. What more could a club ask for. So thank you Tamara and welcome on-board Wendy. We're looking forward to another great year.
We didn't bring home the trophy but we sure had fun!  Team nerd showed up and did our best. Our downfall and why the trophy was taken by the Cochrane club?  American flags.....that is all I will say!

Check out our good looking team!
